And, finally, Look! A fjord!
The U-shaped valleys carved by glaciers are what make these fjords (essentially mountains jutting out of the ocean) special. The light and time of day changes the mood of the ocean and the fjords themselves. Flat, pointy, jagged, smooth, no two fjords are alike and all were beautiful.
Icelandic people can be very superstitious, and one legend has it that the giant trolls living in the hills sat down and made the U-shaped valleys, or, as they call them sometimes, "troll seats."
