A Line In The Sand

A Line In The Sand was a demonstration here in Jersey put on by the National Trust to protect the coastlines from building. Recently the Jersey government has been trying to sell off land to make money, but with no regard to the environmental and aesthetic aspects of the island. Several thousand Islanders came to the longest stretch of beach in Jersey, St Ouën--nearly 5 miles!, and stood side-by-side. The paper reported that over 7000 people showed up to the event (I don't think it was quite that many...)

Making Bread!

Nearly every day since July, Monty and I have been making our own bread! It's yummy and easy, and it's nice to know exactly what we're eating. Plus, it smells delicious!

Where, exactly, is Jersey?

Jersey is an island in the English Channel (or La Manche, if you're French) and is located 14 miles from France.  Find Brittany, the very western peninsula (yellow) and go north into the Channel to fine the Channel Islands, Jersey, Guernsey, Alderney, Sark, Herm, Jethou, Lihou and Brecqhou. I am moving, in a matter of 3 weeks, to a small town near Rouen which is in Normandy-- not too far from Jersey!
